An explosion at an ammunition depot forces almost 30000 to evacuate

Now fire and explosions of different intensity are observed in the territory of the military depot.

Kiev had blamed that deadly blast on Moscow and its Russian-backed armed groups fighting Ukrainian forces in the war-wracked east - a charge both denied.

The Vinnytsia regional administration said the depot contained 188,000 tonnes of munitions, much more than the 83,000 tonnes the military first reported.

Ukraine's military says the explosion was "sabotage".

"People suffered heavy damage", a resident who identified herself only as Antonina told AFP.

Zoryan Shkiryak, and adviser to the Ukraine's Interior Minister, commented that the incident was an example of "Russian sabotage", noting that it was the seventh fire at the arsenal.

Speaking at an urgent session of the Cabinet, Mr Groysman also suggested it was possible sabotage, saying that Ukraine is at war and that its expects that its enemies "will do all they can to make us weak".

Violent crime increases for second straight year
Malloy on Monday took credit for a significant drop in crime , including the lowest number of murders in the state since 1969. The FBI statistics show the county's violent crime rate was 3.3 offenses per 1,000 people, about 1 percent lower than in 2015.

By Wednesday evening the defence ministry said the various shells and missiles had stopped exploding and that the situation at the facility had been brought under control.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

Today (Wednesday), tens of thousands of Ukrainians were evacuated from their homes after a large explosion took place at an ammunition warehouse west of Kiev. In addition, the electricity and gas lines in the area have been cut off.

More than 20,000 people were evacuated from a nearby town.

Officials shut down surrounding airspace as a precaution to keep exploding missiles from hitting passing commercial jets.

The last major arms warehouse explosion killed one person in the eastern town of Balakliya in March.

The Ukraine has been fighting Russia-backed separatists since April 2014.
