London Museum Alert After Car Crash Injuries,

Police are appealing for information after a vehicle crashed into pedestrians outside London's Natural History Museum on Saturday.

Armed police officers were deployed, with enquiries to establish the circumstances and motive undertaken.

It said the arrested man was among nine people taken to hospital, while two others were treated at the scene.

The incident which occurred at 2.20pm immediately sparked a full-scale security lockdown in the area but police later confirmed the collision was not terror-related.

Police said that while they are on high alert for terrorist activity, the incident was "not terror related".

"The man detained by officers is now under arrest and is in custody at a north London police station".

The museum was evacuated and the area was cordoned off with police tape, while reports said there were helicopters above and emergency services at the scene.

Workers in a cafe near the Natural History Museum say they fled the scene in fear.

The museum said on Twitter that it was working with the police after "a serious incident" outside the museum and would provide more information later.

Video footage posted on Twitter showed a man being restrained on the ground in the middle of Exhibition Road in front of what is believed to be a Toyota Prius minicab that had collided with a silver Vauxhall saloon.

Police at the scene on Cromwell Gardens in London, after several people have been injured after a vehicle reportedly ploughed into people outside London's Natural History Museum. Police said that the injuries are minor, the BBC reported.

Three Islamist militants drove into people on London Bridge in June before stabbing people at nearby restaurants and bars, killing eight. Britain has been on a "severe" terrorist threat level indicating that the Joint Terrorism Analysis Center believes an attack is viewed as highly likely.

The Natural History Museum is in the bustling section of South Kensington, popular with both Londoners and tourists.

British Prime Minister Theresa May was being updated on the incident, according to her office.
