Trump says Puerto Rico's debt needs to be wiped out

As the rebuilding process continues in Hurricane Maria-ravaged Puerto Rico, there's a push in CT for further aid to the island's people.

More than 80% of Puerto Rico's cellular towers are still out of service more than two weeks after the arrival there of Hurricane Maria, and almost one-third of the island's counties have no service, according to the FCC.

"If we don't get the help we need, this will be a national disaster", Maldonado added.

"They had these attractive, soft towels", Trump said.

"As far as the political noise, we filter that out, keep our heads down, and continue to make progress and push forward restoring essential functions for Puerto Rico", he said. Those sites were able to process more than 400,000 calls per day, and the AT&T network overall is supporting more than 9 million calls per day on the island. "However, absent extraordinary measures to address the halt in the economic activity in Puerto Rico, the humanitarian crisis will deepen, and the unmet basic needs of the American citizens of Puerto Rico will become even greater".

Death toll reaches 14 in U.S. nursing home hurricane tragedy
Franco's death follows the death of her 93-year-old husband, Miguel, who was also a patient at the nursing home. State officials later suspended their license, and owners eventually closed the facility permanently.

"If there is a place, a locality that is not delivering food to the people of Puerto Rico that need it, there's going to be some hell to pay", he said.

According to Crowley Maritime, both trucks and vessels will be used in order to aid those impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, with a reported 375 trucks expediting deliveries to relief zones.

During his tour to Puerto Rico, Trump was also criticized for comparing the death toll from the infamous 2005 Hurricane Katrina to the much lower number of casualties in Puerto Rico. They will deploy to Puerto Rico with two Load Handling System vehicles and trailers equipped with four Compatible Water Tank Racks, or "Hippos".

Soon after the hurricane hit, Cruz said at a news conference, "We are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency and the bureaucracy".

The government was delivering food and water supplies to municipalities but people in some areas said they were not receiving them from local authorities.
