Vet Admits Concocting Phony History as Navy SEAL

Earlier this month, Fox News ran a heartwarming story profiling a decorated Vietnam veteran and former Navy SEAL who had crafted an intricate glass presidential seal that he hoped to present to Donald Trump. "Heroes are the ones that didn't come home".

John Garofalo appeared on Fox in an October 8 segment to show off a massive hand-cut glass presidential seal that he made as a gift to honor President Trump.

Host Eric Shawn closed the story by saying, "God bless John Garofalo".

But on Friday, the 24-hour news network was forced to retract its story after it was revealed that Garafalo had doctored almost all of his military history. He was never a U.S. Navy SEAL.

As you might expect, the Fox reporters fawned over Garafalo.

It's unclear why it took Fox 11 days to retract the article. "Even though he showed us medals, Garofalo was not awarded two Purple Hearts or any of the other almost two dozen commendations he claimed to have received, except for the National Defense Service Medal".

"All of Garofalo's claims turned out to be untrue", Fox's correction stated.

However, Fox News had been alerted to Garofalo's bogus claims, the very next day after the segment aired, according to Don Shipley, a retired SEAL who exposes fake Navy SEALs.

White nationalist Spencer drowned out by protesters
Darnell said now they are expecting both protesters and counterprotesters to show up in connection to Spencer's appearance. He said he agrees with about 75% of what Spencer says, but said he thinks Spencer sometimes "beats around the bush".

FNC says the network has spent the last two weeks working "with Garofalo's family and the National Personnel Records Center to get to the bottom of a military past that Garofalo had claimed to be covert".

Among other things, Garofalo falsely claimed that he was a Navy SEAL, that he received two Purple Hearts, and that he served in Vietnam. He posted a video to Extreme Seal Experience to Garofalo for lying about his military experience.

This isn't the first time Fox welcomed a guest who lied about his background, The Hill reported. But the network did not remove the false story from its Facebook page until yesterday. "Did not served (sic) with a unit/vessel awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, or any unit citations", the record stated.

"We apologize to our viewers, especially veterans and servicemen and women", the statement read.

"It got bigger and bigger", Garofalo told the Navy Times on Thursday.

A Fox spokeswoman said Friday morning that the story had been corrected online and on all social media platforms. 'What I did I'm ashamed of, and I didn't mean to cause so much disgrace to the SEALs'.

"It got bigger and bigger", he said.
