A player was approached by bookie, confirms Najam Sethi

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed was the target of an allegedly corrupt approach after the third ODI against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, multiple sources have confirmed.

The man who approached Sarfraz and the Pakistani skipper an offer is based in Dubai and is known to most of the players.

In a tweet sent out today (Saturday), the PCB Chairman said that, yes, a player had indeed been approached by a spot-fixer and had offered him a chance to join in. PTI also revealed that the team management reset curfew timings for the players after the incident.

Earlier it was reported that Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmad was approached by a bookie for match-fixing which he turned down.

The officials have also chose to tighten the security around the Pakistan team.

A day ago, it was reported that an "important" member of Pakistan squad had been approached by an worldwide fixing syndicate, but the cricketer had foiled the spot-fixing bid and alerted the ACU officials.

The investigation will now be taken forward by ICC's Anti-Corruption unit (ACU). "As per rules he immediately reported to PCB who informed ICC".

Previously, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have been banned for five years by PCB's anti-corruption tribunal after the PSL was rocked by a spot-fixing scandal.
