Samsung Galaxy J7 Catches fire in Jet Airways Domestic flight

The mobile phone of a passenger caught fire during a Delhi-Indore Jet Airways flight on Friday, a close shave for almost 120 people who eventually landed safely after the crew put the device in water. The phone explodes in just 15 minutes after the Jet Airways Flight took off from Delhi Airport. How will the Jet Airway tackle the situation?

The flight between Delhi to Indore had a passenger named Arpita, where she carried three smartphones in her handbag including the Samsung Galaxy J7. "We prayed to god", said Atul, Arpita's husband who was with her.

Gadgets 360 has reached out to Samsung to comment on the issue.

Arpita said that she would be lodging a complaint against Jet Airways as soon as she returns, for a major safety lapse of onboard fire extinguishers not working. To recall, there were numerous reports past year of the phablet spontaneously catching on fire which resulted in the phone's early demise. "Jet Airways crew immediately took charge of the situation, as also all necessary steps as precautionary measure, and as per the prescribed guidelines", a Jet Airways spokesperson told HindustanTimes.

While so far this is a one-off incident and the exact reason behind the fire is still not know.

After this incident, Samsung India spokesperson said that they are in touch with the authorities for relative information and also said that customer safety is the top priority. The South Korean company has been under fire over the safety of smartphones ever since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco took place in September previous year.
