First trailer for Daniel Day Lewis' final film 'Phantom Thread' drops online

Day-Lewis looks and sounds completely different in every movie, and "Phantom Thread" seems to be no different. Certainly, Day-Lewis is aiming for his fourth Oscar, and Anderson, with the soft glowing shots of dresses and the flawless studio lighting, is hoping for his long-overdue Oscar for Best Director.

If the pledge holds, he's going out with a bang, reunited with director Paul Thomas Anderson for an introspective character study.

Phantom Thread is out on February 2, 2018. Here, he delves into 1950s London, playing Reynolds Woodcock, a fashion designer and dressmaker for Britain's high society types, be it royalty, celebrities, heiresses and the generally wealthy. The film will be Day-Lewis' first acting role in five years, since the 2012 film Lincoln - and is likely to be his last on-screen performance having announced his retirement in June.

Daniel Day-Lewis says he won't be making any more movies, with the upcoming "Phantom Thread" set to be his swan song. Each of his directorial efforts following 2002's Punch-Drunk Love have garnered at least two Oscar nods, with 2007's There Will Be Blood - also a Day-Lewis collaboration-winning the esteemed actor his second of three competitive trophies in the lead actor category.
