Will Smith's Action-Packed 'Bright' Trailer Debuts

David Ayer directs the film, which premieres on the streaming service December 22.

We get a better look at the insane, mish-mash world at hand in Bright and more hints towards other magical characters, as well as some good-old fun had by Will Smith.

After premiering the first trailer in July at San Diego Comic Con, Netflix released a second trailer this morning for Bright. The film follows two cops from very different backgrounds, Ward (Smith), and Jakoby (Edgerton), as they embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.

Netflix has stepped up its game, especially in 2017, when it comes to its original movie content.

In a fantasy world where orcs are marginalized citizens, cops are talking down medieval sword-wielding crazies, and elves are shooting up convenient stores, a magic wand is a weapon of mass destruction...that can also grant wishes.

The trailer revolves around Smith and Egerton's characters chasing down and protecting the wand from evil elf Noomi Rapace, as well as any nefarious humans that may want to get their hands on the artifact.

With its roots in traditional action movies, Bright has plenty of peril, suspense, and violence, so you might want to screen it alone before giving the kids a glimpse. It's also a buddy-cop flick. "I was able to do my thing". Orcs, however, are the lowest on the totem pole, leading to an interesting message for a fantasy film. If Ayer can find a balance with his directing, then this may be one of his better films. Everything about the way Orcs are framed in this trailer makes that clear.
