Daredevil Season 3 Sets New Showrunner; Kingpin Confirmed to Return

"Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk", Daredevil's executive producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement.

Netflix's Daredevil has a lot of things going for it, but one of its best traits is the performance of Vincent D'Onofrio in his role of Wilson Fisk (AKA Kingpin). Steven S. DeKnight supervised Daredevil's inaugural year, while Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez took over in season 2 before moving onto The Defenders.

Netflix and Marvel haven't hinted at any type of release window for Daredevil's third season.

D'Onofrio was the main villain in the first season of Daredevil, and his character made an appearance in the second season and was involved in several scenes with the Punisher and Matt Murdock in the season. After Fisk had a brief but memorable part in season two, Deadline now confirms that D'Onofrio will return in season three.

Based on the events of The Defenders and the end of the second season of Daredevil, Matt Murdock may have bigger fish to fry than the Kingpin, but the Kingpin wants his revenge. We will have to wait to see how Oleson will help revamp the series, but fans should be thrilled to know Kingpin is coming back. Oleson's writing and producing credits include The Man in the High Castle and one of The CW's superhero adaptations, Arrow. But without Fisk, or indeed any entity, puppeteering the operation, there was a general lack of villainous direction in the show. Loeb added, "We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson".

Netflix has yet to announce a launch date for Daredevil season 3, but it will likely return to Netflix in 2018 after Jessica Jones season 2 premieres. The series is produced by Marvel TV in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
