Dodgers add Seager, McCarthy, drop Granderson, Farmer

Los Angeles takes on the Houston Astros in the World Series opener Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had expressed confidence that Seager would be fit to feature for the NL champions.

The main story entering the NLCS was All-star shortstop Corey Seager being left off the Championship Series roster with a back injury. Initially brought in to replace Pederson, Granderson had only 18 hits in 112 plate appearances for Los Agneles (.161) during the regular season, and has just one hit and eight strikeouts in his 15 postseason at-bats.

In 2015 with NY, he was one of the only consistent hitters on a Mets team whose bats fell flat against the Royals, hitting three home runs with five RBI in the five-game series defeat.

Culberson is on the World Series roster too, and could see time in the infield and the outfield.

To counter the opposition parties' "black day" on November 8, the Union Government on Wednesday said that it would observe "Anti-Black Money Day".

Granderson's.067 batting average in the postseason was the lowest among Dodger position players with at least 10 at-bats.

Ethier started two games against the Cubs, homering in a Game 3 win that gave the Dodgers a commanding three-games-to-none advantage in that series. The 6-foot-7 right-hander has been restricted to simulated games and bullpen sessions since the regular season ended, but could become a useful multi-inning option out of the bullpen. He went 6-4 with a 3.98 in 19 appearances during the regular season, 16 of them starts.

Depending on how Seager is feeling, he could be the designated hitter for the Dodgers when the Series shifts to Houston for Game 3.

Farmer, who served as the Dodgers' third catcher during the past two rounds and can also play third base, went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly during playoff victories over Arizona and Chicago.
