Netflix says it will end 'House of Cards'

Netflix has changed dramatically around House of Cards, upping its content spend to a flabbergasting $6 billion annually with more than 30 current series.

However, the decision to conclude "House of Cards" was made several months ago, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press, on the condition of anonymity.

On Sunday, BuzzFeed published an interview with Rapp, who's now starring in "Star Trek: Discovery", in which he said that Spacey made a sexual advance on him when he was just 14 in 1986. "Predator = Predator" in a separate tweet in reference to Kevin's revelation that he now "chooses to live as a gay man". Late Sunday, the House of Cards star issued a public apology, though he said he didn't remember the incident.

House of Cards was instrumental in putting Netflix on the map and making it the juggernaut it is today, attracting big name talent in star Kevin Spacey and director/producer David Fincher to the streaming network at a time when streaming television was still in its infancy.

To re-use the overworked phrase, Spacey's sexuality has been an open secret in Hollywood for years; in fact, an Esquire cover article cheekily titled "Kevin Spacey Has a Secret" appeared on newsstands not long after his first Oscar win.

"Gore", a planned Gore Vidal biopic starring Spacey and set to air on Netflix may be on the chopping block now too, according to Deadline.

House of Cards has been nominated for 46 Emmys (including Outstanding Drama Series for five years in a row), winning seven times. He has denied the allegations of sexual assault.

Jim McElwain out as Florida's coach
In McElwain's two-plus seasons, the Gators won the SEC's Eastern Division twice and are 22-12 overall and 16-6 in league play. The Gators now rank 113th in total offense, in triple digits nationally for the third time in McElwain's three seasons.

Spacey responded to the allegations in a statement on Twitter Sunday night, writing, "I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior", adding, "This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life".

Actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey tried to seduce him in 1986, when Rapp was a young teenager.

Spacey's response has been criticised by GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), who accuse the star of coming out to "deflect" attention away from the allegations.

"I want to deal with this honestly and openly", he said, "and that starts with me examining my own behavior".

Kevin Spacey has been criticised for his response to sexual misconduct allegations by LGBTQ organisations and campaigners. I feel for Mr. Rapp and I support his courage.

A spokesperson for the festival tells me that plan remains in place.
