Beyonce set to join cast of 2019 'The Lion King' remake

The new Lion King's story was written by Catch Me If You Can and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' Jeff Nathanson.

After months of speculation, Disney confirmed that music legend and goddess extraordinaire, Beyoncé, will voice Nala in the live-action The Lion King. Following the casting announcement, though, we're on board the hype train. Queen Bey will be joined by Donald Glover who is set to play Simba, while James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph will play Young Simba and Nala.

The Lion King makes its bow on July 19, 2019. Comedians Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will voice everyone's favorite meerkat and warthog duo, Timon and Pumbaa, respectively.
