Kevin Spacey Removed from All the Money in the World

Kevin Spacey been cut out of a leading role as USA oil tycoon J. Paul Getty in a film about the 173 kidnapping of the oil tycoon's grandson, weeks before it is due to be released in cinemas. His scenes will be reshot immediately, with Christopher Plummer replacing him in the role of J. Paul Getty.

The surprising part of the recast is that Scott wants to keep the December 22 released date. Co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams are expected to participate.

The news follows a wave of sexual assault allegations made against Spacey by over a dozen people, including multiple accusations of assault on underage victims.

It is also thought that digital compositing could place Plummer into some existing shots.

Ridley Scott and Sony Pictures have been spending the last week or so juggling what to do with the upcoming J Paul Getty drama, All The Money In The World. Plummer, 87, was reportedly Scott's first choice to play the role of the cold billionaire, but Scott was forced to pick a "bigger name" for the role, the AP reported.

Scott once before was forced to deal with re-shooting on a film, following the death of Oliver Reed in the Oscar winning Gladiator.

Kevin Spacey (L) and Christopher Plummer (R) attend the 13th annual Monte Cristo Awards at The Edison Ballroom on April 15, 2013 in New York City. Unruh held a press conference, explaining her son was 18 years old when Spacey allegedly his genitals.

The claims against Spacey span from the mid-1980s to a year ago.

Spacey has suffered a rapid fall from grace since actor Anthony Rapp, who starred in the 2005 musical Rent, accused Spacey of making sexual advances toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14. The allegations have led to his firing from the hit television series House of Cards by the streaming service Netflix, which has also refused to release a film in which Spacey stars as the late American writer and critic Gore Vidal.
