Kyle Larson wins Stage 1 of Can-Am 500 at Phoenix Raceway

Matt Kenseth claimed his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win of 2017 in the next-to-last race of the season. Both drivers are looking to fill the final spot for the Championship 4.

Two to go this time around as NASCAR heads to Phoenix.

Hamlin leads in the final 100 laps, though the cars have not yet pitted in the final segment. "Learning the hard way, I guess, in some ways, but it's hopefully making me a better person and making us better down the road".

Pole-sitter and playoff driver Ryan Blaney led the first 10 laps before losing the lead to Elliott.

NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth doesn't have a job next year, but racing legend Mario Andretti would give him one, if he had one to give.

Elliott has been groomed for his run to the top level of NASCAR, following the footsteps of his father, Bill, the 1988 Winston Cup Series champion. Joey Logano won last year's Can-Am 500. Had Elliott hung on for the win, he would have qualified for the championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The one hole in his resume: A victory.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Coming To Injustice 2
Leo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello will be suiting up (shelling up?) to fight the likes of Superman, Batman and more. Fighting game and DC fans alike should add this game to their collection as soon as possible.

Chase Elliott: This is Elliott's seventh second-place finish without a win, and while he said after the race he hopes to eventually correct that closing issue, this loss will sting more than others with a championship berth on the line. "We just have to keep our morale high and go to Homestead next week and get ready to close out the season strong and bring everything we've got come next season".

After dominating the race to that point, Hamlin retired from the race in the final 50 laps after contact with Elliott gave him a tire rub that led to a blown tires, sending his vehicle hard into the wall.

Kenseth took his final lead of the race with a pass of Chase Elliott with nine laps remaining in his penultimate race with Joe Gibbs Racing and won the Can-Am 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

At Martinsville, contact from Hamlin to Elliott's back bumper sent Elliott into the wall. Brad Keselowski earned the final spot with Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick by finishing 16th.

"It's just very disappointing, and I just hate that - I just hate so bad for my team", Elliott told reporters after the race.

Hamlin didn't appreciate the retaliation, particularly the timing of it.

Andretti is the only driver to ever win NASCAR's Daytona 500, IndyCar's Indianapolis 500 and Formula 1's world championship, so he has a little experience in NASCAR. "I was telling my guys we'll get it right someday, or I'll get it right someday", Elliott said. "I got into him and he chose to retaliate".
