Vietnamese Firm Unlocked The IPhone X Face ID With A Mask

Not just any mask, of course, but one meticulously crafted to trick Apple's super-advanced AI system into believing the rightful owner of an iPhone X is indeed facing the device. However, recently a Vietnamese security firm said that it successfully managed to thwart the Face ID using a mask.

It took the researchers some attempts to get the mask right in order to trick Face ID, but at $150, around £114, to create the mask, the hack is not massively expensive providing one has the knowledge how to create it to specifically beat facial recognition systems.

The probability of a random person hacking Face ID, says the page, is one-in-a-million.

In a potted question and answer, Bkav says it is irrelevant if Apple's Face ID "learns" new images of the face with use. However it's also important for security and policing organisations to know about the limits of Face ID. "Security units' competitors, commercial rivals of corporations, and even nations might benefit from our PoC", they said.

The nation's 45th president just tweeted that he has nominated Alex Azar as the next secretary of Health and Human Services. Azar, a lawyer, would take over one of the largest federal agencies with an annual budget of more than $1 trillion.

"Apple will disable the Face ID after five attempts, and force the user to enter a passcode, which should be secure", Norris said. They might have "weakened" the Face ID by training it while some of the owner's facial features were obscured. It only took Vietnam-based cybersecurity experts from Bkav a few days to figure out the vulnerabilities of the authentication mechanism and create an extremely creepy mold of a hacker's face. A stylus called the "Apple Pencil" was also reported to be in progress and is expected to launch along with the new tablet.

Now, a group of hackers reported that the iPhone X's FaceID system is no longer viable. The prospect of someone gaining access to your locked phone while you sleep is something iPhone X users need to be aware of, particularly those that sleep deeply, ' Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO of FaceTec. They offer only a reasonable level of security, and users adopt them because they are more convenient. This is a rather serious issue, considering it's relatively easy to make this happen. So, the device is going to "change and evolve" further in the coming months.

The iPhone X is the biggest upgrade in Apple's smartphone lineup in years. The technology didn't even fall for well-lit photographs or other faces that had similar features.
