Ravens CB Jimmy Smith will miss rest of season with Achilles injury

Smith's injury tainted an otherwise impressive afternoon for the Ravens (7-5), who played their most complete game of the year.

Now, he won't be getting paid for the first month of his absence.

Then, the news broke that he reportedly tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance and will be suspended for four games as a result, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Smith suffered a torn Achilles in the second quarter of Sunday's 44-20 win over the Lions and is expected to be placed on injured reserve this week. He's appeared in all 16 regular season games only twice; past year, he was placed on injured reserve after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 14. "I think the league, the trainers, they bring people in to talk them about what the rules are and educate the guys", Harbaugh said.

Former Fox News producer claims O'Reilly broke agreement
According to the Times , Bernstein's suit did not, unlike some of the other claims against O'Reilly, involve sexual harassment. Her lawsuit also claims that O'Reilly's statements that no complaints were filed against him are "deliberately misleading".

The suspension does include the ramification of a loss of four games' pay, so the decision to drop the appeal is far from inconsequential, but Smith restructured his contract and only has a minimum base salary this year.

"I knew about it before the injury", head coach John Harbaugh said Monday. To me, it's the players' responsibility. First-rounder Marlon Humphrey should take over for Smith in the starting lineup. We have a lot of good, young players.

Yes, Humphrey struggled early in the second half against Marvin Jones. Smith will miss a total of 17 games over the past four seasons. We'll step up, and we'll still play at a really high level in the secondary. "It's just the fact of getting there and doing it", Harbaugh said.

"It hasn't been ideal to this point", Flacco said, "but we have set ourselves up to the point where we are playing meaningful December football, and that's one of the goals at the end of the day".
