Pop Star Jonghyun Of SHINee Dies At 27

The lead singer of popular South Korean boy band SHINee died on Monday, police said, in a possible suicide.

According to local news outlets on December 18, SHINee's Jonghyun has been reportedly found dead at his apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.

Jonghyun had also branched out on a successful solo career in 2015, performing two solo concerts in Seoul just this month, but he was the only original member of SHINee to participate in the band's reformation earlier this year, which coincided with their fifth album release.

His fans posted messages of grief on his account after the news of his death broke. "The depression that had been slowly eating me up finally devoured me and I couldn't defeat it". They released six chart-topping albums in Korea and five in Japan, in addition to embarking on numerous world tours.

Financial details of the acquisition weren't disclosed by Apple , but the purchase price is reportedly around $400 million . Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, has been using Shazam to allow users to identify songs on request since 2014.

Lastly, SM Entertainment requested everyone to avoid making any speculation concerning to Jonghyun, and as his family wishes, his funeral shall be held quietly with his family, close friends and colleagues only.

"His sister was first to call the police assuming that he might commit suicide", said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive subject. His death is a blow to the massive worldwide fan base that Korea's "K-pop" music has attracted in recent years.

Korean pop music - or K-pop - is one of the most notable exports to come out of South Korea in the past decade.
