Longtime Friends in Hawaii Are Closer Than They Thought

Two men in Hawaii who have been best friends for 60 years just found out they are brothers, CBS Philly reports.

As KHON reports, Walter Macfarlane of Oahu was searching for his father, when he chose to try using a DNA matching website.

"He was the party-er, I never went to or did any partying in high school", Macfarlane said.

Two lifelong best friends got one of the most wonderful gifts this holiday season: finding out that they're true relatives.

It turns out Robinson had also used Ancestry.com to find answers about his family.

In a separate bid to trace his father, Mr Macfarlane turned to a family history and DNA website and carried out a test. Born in Hawaii 15 months apart, they met in the sixth grade and played football together at a Honolulu prep school.

"I had a younger brother that I lost when I was 19 so I had never nieces or nephews and I thought I'd never know my birth mother, I'll never have any nieces or nephews", Walter said.

"Yea hairy arms, that did it!"

Christmas celebrated in Odisha
Shah said the officials of the Tourism department would also attend travel and trade fairs to woo more tourists to Kashmir. Due to cyclone Ockhi that affected several people in the state, the Latin Catholic churches avoided celebrations.

His good friend, Robinson, went by Robi and flew 737s as a pilot for Aloha Airlines.

The results of the test from Ancestry.com revealed that Macfarlane had a genetic similarity with another user on the site with the name "Robi737".

"It was a shock - definitely a shock, but then when you thought about it, compared forearms and everything", said Macfarlane.

"This is the best Christmas present I can ever imagine having", Walter said. They, then, surprised their friends and family with the news over the weekend.

Mr Robinson added: 'It was an overwhelming experience, it's still overwhelming. "It's still overwhelming", Robinson said.

The brothers now plan to enjoy their retirement traveling together.

"It really is a Christmas miracle, and we're so happy that we found it", Macfarlane daughter's Cindy said.
