Wade Davis, Rockies Reportedly Agree on Record Contract for Relief Pitcher

The Rockies have reached an agreement on a three-year, $52 million contract with All-Star closer Wade Davis, Yahoo Sports reported Friday.

Davis will also reportedly be in line for a $14 million vesting option for the 2021 season.

Traded by the Royals to the Cubs last December for Jorge Soler, Davis responded by going 4-2 with a 2.30 ERA while picking up 32 saves - a career high.

Davis is in a fantastic situation, with the Rockies bullpen already loaded. The Rockies had been linked to wanting Holland back but it's been no secret that Holland and his agent Scott Boras were seeking a long-term deal hoping to cash in on his success from a year ago.

The money going to Davis brings the sum of the Rockies offseason spendings to $114.5 million.

DE urgent cares seeing an increase in patients with flu-like symptoms
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone over the age of 6 get their flu shot each season. Some people never show any signs of flu symptoms but may act as carriers of the virus, infecting their loved ones.

With Adam Ottavino, Mike Dunn and Chris Rusin, the Rockies could spend up to $45 million on relievers in 2018 - the most expensive bullpen in the National League.

With a deep bullpen, Black can pull his starters after five or six innings and then hand the reins over to a relief trifecta that can hold its own and then some.

The Cubs acquired Davis through trade from the Royals last offseason, adding him to replace Aroldis Chapman, who had signed with the Yankees.

That all being said, while Davis could be very much touch-and-go in Colorado, he still gives the Rockies the best chance at getting back to the playoffs and building upon being the second NL Wild Card team last season.
