
Jerry's wife Shirley confirmed to TMZ that the showbiz veteran passed away on Friday afternoon at their Arkansas ranch at the age of 86.
He appeared as Stacey Petrie in the 1960s on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which he followed up with appearances on The Andy Griffith Show, My Mother the vehicle, and Accidental Family.

Throughout his television career, Van Dyke gravitated towards projects that would go on to be short-lived, turning down a starring role in "Gilligan's Island" to work on "My Mother the auto", which has been regarded as one of the worst television shows of the era. He was also a regular performer on The Judy Garland Show before going on to star as Dave Crabtree in the short-lived My Mother the vehicle, which ran from 1965-1966. Van Dyke's work on the show earned him four Emmy nominations for supporting actor. He also played in Las Vegas, at Playboy Clubs, and on cruise ships in a stage show in the 60s.
Van Dyke is survived by his wife Shirley and two children. "Coach" co-star Craig T. Nelson released a statement to Eyewitness News, saying he is incredibly sad to hear of his passing.
In his personal life, Van Dyke married twice.
