Fire at Trump Tower injures one

The fire started around 7 a.m.at the Manhattan building that contains President Donald Trump's home and business offices.

One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Reilly said. "The men and women of the #FDNY are true heroes and deserve our most honest thanks and praise!" he posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

About 84 firefighters were at the scene initially.

"We made several announcements to all the tenants in the building to remain in place", said New York Fire Chief Roger Sakowich.

Smoke billowed from one corner of the high-rise for a while before most of it dissipated. It's a cooling tower on the roof.

Two people have been injured as a result of the fire, although it is not yet known whether the victims were firefighters or members of the public. Videos showed the smoke coming out of the building, but a raging fire could not be seen.

First Lady Melania Trump and the couple's son Barron lived in the residence for the first few months of Trump's presidency before moving into the White House.
