"If Kylie can't make them change we are f--d", another wrote, adding his voice to the chorus of users pleading with the app to reverse course and go back to the old design (an online petition calling for change earned more than 1.2 million signatures). The petition, which has managed to accumulate almost 1.5 million signatures since the update began rolling out, has finally received an official response from Snap (via BGR).

In the message signed by the Snapchat team and posted as a reply on the petition, the company says that it's heard the feedback of the redesign loud and clear and acknowledges how the "new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many".

Snapchat claimed that it rolled out the re-design in a bid to make the app easier to use and to implement a dedicated feed for news content.

Jenner's tweet was followed late Thursday by one from Maybelline New York, asking its followers if it should stay on the Snapchat platform.

Some Twitter users are tweeting "King Kylie" and saying that if she doesn't like the redesign, Jenner can become the fearless leader who pressures the tech giant to revert to its original design.

Further, it said that the Friends page is not only customizable, but would evolve into something smarter with time.

Snapchat is facing intense competition from Facebook's Instagram - especially for celebrity users - and Ms Jenner's attack comes at a time when investors are already anxious. Kylie partnered with Snap past year in order to broadcast exclusive video on Snapchat with a format named "Ask Kylie".
