Google Lens rolls out to AR-enabled Android phones with Google Photos

This much-touted feature is finally making its way to all Android smartphones via Google Photos. According to The Verge, Google is also bringing Lens to iOS devices, though no word yet on the timeline for that launch.

Google announced that Lens will be available for more Android smartphones, as long as they have Google Photos installed. After picking the photo, tap on the Google Lens icon bar which is located next to the delete bin. These features are part of the Google Assistant, where the camera is used to scan and identify the object or place. That's because Lens understands what you're looking at, and will try to make the most of that.

If the menu card is in a foreign language, Google Lens can also translate it into English or your mother tongue (select global languages).

To be able to access Lens on your Google Photos, you need to update it to the latest version.

Another notable aspect of Google Lens is its capability to perceive information within a photo and accurately carry out the function.

Pichai connected his phone to a Wi-Fi network just by snapping a photo of a sticker on the internet router.

Google Lens works thanks to an AI recognition system when a user takes a photograph of a book, a landmark, or most points of interest, Google will run it through their database and provide a card with relevant information about the subject of the photograph.
