Lawyer: Man accused of stealing Oscar will fight charge

A man who allegedly stole Frances McDormand's Oscar at an Academy Awards afterparty on Sunday has been arrested.

He quickly gave it up when confronted by a photographer, police said.

McDormand (60) won the award for her role as an angry, grieving mother in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".

The man has been released on bail and could face a maximum sentence of three years in jail if found guilty.

Bryant, who also goes by DJ Matari, did have a ticket to the event on Sunday night, and previously attended both the Screen Actor Guild Awards and Golden Globes earlier this year.

The actress clutched her award through the post-win press conferences and took it with her to the annual Governors Ball celebration.

Walmart starts selling meal kits
Although several other retailers have tried the meal kit option, a lot of them haven't succeeded in this business venture. Walmart said its food can be ordered online at lunchtime and picked up in the deli section of its stores at dinner time.

McDormand was named best actress - but her statuette briefly went missing at the lavish after-show Governor's Ball.

"There's a difference between holding an Oscar and what he's charged with", Bryant's lawyer Daniel Brookman told reporters. The mugshots were taken by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office between 1999 and 2002 for charges that included theft, criminal mischief and assault.

Authorities said they believe Bryant had every intention of leaving the ball with the Oscar, pointing out that in one video he says the Oscar belongs to his "team". A man, now identified by Los Angeles police as Terry Bryant, tried to make off with her statuette after grabbing it from her table. In the video he points at the award and says, "I proclaim it in Jesus's name". "They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger", McDormand's publicist, Simon Halls, told the AP.

A video, which has since been deleted, appeared on Bryant's Facebook page which showed him holding the award while wearing a tuxedo.

But Brookman notes that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences makes it clear that an Oscar can not be sold.

"Who wants to wish me congratulations?" he asked fellow revelers who were walking by, before posing for several selfies.
