United States offers $5M reward for Pakistan Taliban leader

In a response to a recent letter from the Taliban to the United States, the Trump team has ruled out withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, a pre-condition set by the rebels for talks. It was the latest in a succession of periodic bombings and other attacks on Shiite mosques, shrines and events that have taken hundreds of lives in Kabul's minority ethnic Hazara community since 2016.

Fazlullah is known for training suicide bombers, and was the target of a USA drone strike that killed over 20 militants on Wednesday.

Amin said the bomber detonated his explosive device at a checkpoint "after being identified by police".

As per an account of the security officials, over two dozen militants were being trained in the camp as suicide bombers when it came under attack from the CIA-operated pilotless aircraft.

The Islamic State, or the Khorasan Province as its affiliate in Afghanistan is known, claimed responsibility in a posting on an Islamic State-linked website.

Defense hawks aren't sure what to make of Trump's North Korea meeting
President Xi told Mr Trump he appreciates his desire to resolve the North Korea issue politically rather than militarily. Kinzinger said he's had time to talk with a few of his fellow lawmakers and they are pleased with what has happened.

Local Hazara leader Mohammad Mohaqiq told the Kabul gathering that the explosion was an attempt to terrorize Afghans.

According to Basir Mujahid, spokesperson for the Kabul police chief, the bomber was on foot and was trying to strike a gathering of Hazaras who were commemorating the 1995 death of their leader, Abdul Ali Mazari, killed at the hands of the Taliban.

The death toll has risen to nine, Waheed Majroh, spokesman for the Health Ministry said.

Ten local policemen were killed and nine were wounded in the ambush, provincial police spokesperson Khali Aseir said. Mujahid claimed the Taliban had inflicted a far higher number of casualties, but the insurgents often exaggerate their claims. Another five officers were wounded in the gunbattle, he said.
