Elon Musk Says SpaceX's Mars Rocket Could Launch in Early 2019

Musk actually brought up his sometimes overly-ambitious timelines, saying he does have a habit of making them appear a little bit too rosy. "I think once we build it we'll have a point of proof something that other companies and countries can go and do".

Featuring (of course) the song "Live on Mars" by David Bowie - which was used continuously throughout the launch - Musk said that the launch was meant to inspire.

He fears another "dark age" should a third world war occur, and feels that Mars will be integral to helping the human race survive and regenerate.

While his projects such as Tesla's Model 3 "affordable" new auto have been dogged by delays, he's become the driving force behind a new space race.

Yesterday, SpaceX has published on its official YouTube channel a new video which is dramatically reviewing the history of the Falcon Heavy launch, the most powerful rocket that has ever been launched from Earth, at the moment. The ultimate goal is to establish a self-sustaining colony on the Red Planet. He also speculated that "most likely, the form of government on Mars would be somewhat of a direct democracy", in which residents would vote directly on particular issues. Musk said a year ago that human landings on Mars could happen by 2024.

Syrian government splits rebel-held Eastern Ghouta
It was the second convoy in one week, after deliveries on Monday were interrupted by heavy bombardment. HTS is the main force in Idlib, in Syria's northwest and the last province outside government control.

Perhaps the most interesting, Musk spent a lot of time discussing the topic of life on Mars and the need for travel between planets.

But after the infrastructure is complete, "then really the explosion of entrepreneurial opportunity [will begin] because Mars will need everything from iron foundries to pizza joints", he said, CNBC reported. Yet Musk took his time in Austin to give the audience another wake-up call regarding a threat no amount of climate change measures or anti-war rhetoric can help.

"Mark my words: AI is far more unsafe than nukes, by far, so why do we have no regulatory oversight, this is insane".

Mr Musk said he had to be the chief engineer for the Falcon 1 because he couldn't get any other suitable candidates to join the company, and he didn't want to risk his venture on engineers he felt weren't of the right standard.

"The thing about spaceflight is all of us working together... and we're trying to think of an image, something to sort of shock people into thinking about this again", Nolan said. And if he doesn't try and get us to Mars, who will?
