Miami Beach Revokes Business License for Mokai Lounge

Multiple videos surfaced on social media showing a white horse, carrying a man and a scantily clad woman on its back, being led onto the crowded dance floor at Mokai Lounge, before falling and bucking off the woman. CBS Miami now reports that the club has lost its license, and that a criminal investigation is currently underway.

The animal appeared to lose its footing amid the shouts of shock and dismay heard from the boisterous crowd, with many standing shoulder-to-shoulder with drinks in their hands.

"You guys are absolutely disgusting allowing animal cruelty inside your club", one user posted. As such, we have launched a joint investigation with Miami Beach Code Enforcement'.

A report from News4Jax sister station WLPG said horse stunts at clubs appear to be inspired by famous Studio 54 party.

'I will also be sending this disturbing video to local news stations in hopes this nightclub can be penalized for the abuse of a poor and helpless animal.

The order issued to the nightclub, Mokai Lounge, says the horse was paraded around the venue sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning. "We're looking at it from a police perspective in terms of animal cruelty".

"I am cooperating with the authorities".

In a followup, City Manager Jimmy Morales said, "I was disgusted and offended that any legitimate businessperson would think this was an appropriate action to take".

Calls to the Mokai were unanswered Friday afternoon.

He said he supported the city manager's swift response to the incident. Images of a camel and a painted donkey were provided to CBS Miami.
