Microsoft blames Sony for continued lack of Fortnite cross platform play

Microsoft blames Sony for continued lack of Fortnite cross platform play have teamed up with Fortnite Insider to launch a petition to allow PS4 and Xbox One players to compete together.

Microsoft points the finger at Sony.

As Kotaku points out, CD Projekt Red is only waiting on Microsoft and Sony to do the deal and it can setup cross-platform play between Gwent players on Xbox and PS4 too.

"Microsoft has always been a leading voice in encouraging the adoption of cross-platform play and the potential of connecting players across PC, mobile and all consoles", Microsoft told Kotaku. Likewise, the mobile clones of Cuphead left out what fans an critics loved about Studio MDHR's PC and Xbox One game. The rampant success of Fortnite: Battle Royale has led to Fortnite landing on mobiles, cross-play and all.

Players who receive invites from Epic will also get friend invite codes to share with others.

Trump eyes court cases, rulings on age limits
No deadline was set for recommendations from Trump's planned commission, but officials expected them within a year. He has called for raising the minimum age for purchasing an AR-15 or similar-style rifles from 18 to 21 years old.

A cross-play between both consoles is very feasible from a technical perspective, something that developers have been discussing for a long time. It will be interesting to see if/how exploits like rocket riding will work on mobile devices, if at all. It is, however, not clear if it was a bug or an effort by Fortnite to demonstrate just how easy it is to enable the cross-platform play from the technical perspective, notes Forbes. That's also the case with the latest title to receive lots of cross-platform attention: Epic Games' Fortnite, and according to Microsoft, it's all Sony's fault.

While announcing the mobile version, Epic talked of its vision for the game, saying, "We believe this is the future of games". This is not in the interest of the players, and thus, could require some discussion to enrich gaming experience across different platforms.

Signups for beta events for the mobile version of Fortnite will be made available on from Monday, March 12. The mobile build will require you to have iOS 11 installed on one of the following devices: iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017.
