'Black Panther' set to overtake 'Avengers' box office record

Black Panther has maintained the box-office lead for a fifth straight weekend, the movie which was released on the 14th of February has been the talk of many, the movie has taken in an estimate of $27 million in North American theaters while fending off two new films, website Exhibitor Relations said Sunday.

While most films see a significant drop off after they're released, Black Panther has beaten the odds and continues to draw in support from fans, who've seen the film multiple times.

"'Black Panther' continues to astonish as it shows incredible strength fully five weeks into its awesome run as it takes on another batch of notable newcomers and comes out on top", said Paul Degarabedian, senior media analyst with comScore. Thanks to "Black Panther", the year-to-date box office is up 2 percent over the same period a year ago at $2.5 billion, according to comScore. "Tomb Raider" will have to settle for second place, earning a rather weak $23.5 million in what should have been its strongest weekend, as CBR noted.

Third place goes to the faith-based feature I Can Only Imagine.

Will continue to "fully cooperate" with Robert Mueller: White House
A lawyer said on March 15 that the company has told the public since July that it is cooperating with Mueller's investigation. The Times , citing two people briefed on the matter, said the subpoena was delivered "in recent weeks ".

It stars Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel in the story of a teen trying to hide the truth about his sexuality from his family, his friends and all of his classmates. It's hard to believe, but James Cameron's Avatar was the last movie to win the box office for five weeks straight, and that movie came out in late 2009. It did slightly better with the overseas sales taken into account, earning $102.5 million from 65 regions, for a total worldwide haul of $126 million in its first weekend.

The movie is now the seventh movie at the domestic box office to top $600 million. The film based on the popular novel was right around expectations and I'm predicting a $30-$40 million domestic gross.

Game Night ($5.6 million), Red Sparrow ($4.5 million) and Death Wish ($3.4 million) round out the top ten.
