Mattel Looks Undervalued as Toys 'R' Us Weighs

If you haven't visited a Toys R Us recently and happen to live near one, you might want to take a minute to call the store this week and see if the sale has begun.

The chain, which was known to generations of children and parents for its sprawling stores and Geoffrey the giraffe mascot, announce last week it would shutter all of its 740 USA locations.

Toys R Us hopes to start liquidations sales at most of its USA stores on Thursday and complete those sales by the end of June. The teen jewelry and accessories giant Claire's is another retail giant that has succumbed to financial troubles, declaring bankruptcy and announcing the closure of over 90 stores around the country.

Strategic Marks LLC which acquired the KB Toys name plans to relaunch the business. Kids are still playing with toys, Lennett said, and parents will look to other retailers to purchase them.
