Google celebrates John Harrison's 325th birthday. Dr. Maya Angelou used words to craft the most wonderful, gripping poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Over the course of her incredible life, she was a poet, singer, memoirist, and civil rights activist.

"Though we honor Dr. Maya Angelou's courage and compassion today, her words will continue to awaken hope around the world for years to come". At that time, Maya and Bailey moved to San Francisco to live with their mother. She got it, and became the first black woman to hold the position.

The New York Times first reported the hire on Tuesday, a day after Giannandrea announced resignation from his position at Google . Cook broke the news to Apple staff via an email, stating: " Our technology must be infused with the values we all hold dear ".

Three weeks after Maya left school, when she was 17, she gave birth to her son Clyde - who later changed his name to Guy Johnson. Devastated by his death, Dr. Angelou found solace in writing and penned the highly acclaimed autobiography of her early years, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings".

Maya moved to NY in 1959, to concentrate on her writing career, and joined the Harlem Writers Guild. She was also a social activist that worked with both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X during the Civil Rights Movement. Set to her poem "Still I Rise", the Doodle includes her own voice along with the voices of other individuals whose lives she has inspired, and who aspire to live by her legacy today. She was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award.

One of her most famous poem, On the Pulse of the Morning, was made for an recited at President Bill Clinton's inaugural ceremony in January 1993. She earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2010 from President Barack Obama. She first acted and sang in 1957's Calypso Heat Wave but eventually turned to screenwriting for 1972's Georgia, Georgia (a romance about an African American singer who falls in love while performing in Stockholm), and then to directing with 1998's Down in the Delta starring Alfre Woodard and Wesley Snipes.

While Dr. Angelou never placed any real label on her sexuality, she was open about the fact that, as a sex worker, she engaged in sex with other women.
