Future iPhones may have curved screens and touchless gesture controls

Another thing which Apple is working on is a touchless gesture control a which will allow some tasks to be performed by moving their finger close to the screen without actually tapping it.

To stay ahead, Apple needs compelling new features and designs.

Apart from the curved display, Apple is also exploring touch-less gestures for navigation.

A potential new screen, meanwhile, would curve slightly inward from the top of the phone to the bottom. This new feature would work by detecting the user's proximity to the screen to determine what the person is trying to do. Apple is known to be the trendsetter for new technologies in the market. Samsung has tried, but their smartphones are limited to a curve along the edges, except the curved smartphone launched in the past. And the latest report says that Apple will follow Samsung by offering curved displays and touchless control on future iPhones. OLED screens can be curved or folded.

If you didn't think the iPhone X was a substantial enough shift in terms of design, it looks like Apple has a more significant revamp in store. It is also nothing like Samsung's Air Gestures which came out years ago that lets users accept calls and flip through web pages by waving their hand across the top of the phone. Google's ATAP research group has been working on similar technology through a program known as Project Soli. Apple seems to be stressing a lot on screen development recently. This technology would be built directly into the display without the need for a motion sensor. Apple as always has not made any comments on this issue, so we would have to wait to see if the report eventually turns out to be legit. Samsung is already working on a foldable smartphone, while Huawei is seeing increased success in Asia. Patents have been filed, but the technology to create this feature still hasn't caught up with the idea.
