Lysowski's three keys for Pirates vs. Cubs

The Chicago Cubs rescheduled their home opener to Tuesday at Wrigley Field due to freezing temperatures and accumulating snow Monday. After first pushing back the game an hour, the Cubs ultimately made a decision to postpone until Tuesday afternoon, which was a day off in the schedule for just such an eventuality. With AP Photos. The Chicago Cubs have pushed back the scheduled start time for their home opener because of a steady snowfall over Wrigley Field. There wasn't quite as much snow on the South Side, and the series against Tampa Bay is the only scheduled trip to Chicago for the Rays, so rescheduling their game would have been more hard.

Rizzo, who has missed three straight games, told reporters on Sunday he wants to play in the Cubs' Wrigley debut but that he has to consider the long term.

Held scoreless for 22 consecutive innings and trailing 2-0 entering the fifth, the Brewers got a spark when reliever Josh Hader led off the inning with his first major league hit. It opened the season with a 5-4 road trip to Miami, Cincinnati and Milwaukee. Brandon Morrow picked up his first two saves over the weekend since he signed with Chicago in the offseason.

"It's just something that gradually happens", Rizzo said. We'll see how it goes. Guys are getting quick outs and strikeouts when they need to.

The Cubs have pitched well overall, and their team ERA of 2.59 is second in the National League to the New York Mets' mark of 2.40. Much of that scoring came without All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who has been out of the Cubs' lineup with a back injury.

Oil gains on surprise drawdown in United States crude inventories
The US Energy Information Administrations still expects production to total 10.7 million barrels a day this year - a record. Departures from the accord would result in renewed sanctions against Iran, which would hurt its oil industry.

Ivan Nova (0-1, 6.10 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Pirates.

But the Cubs initially weren't so quick to call the game off.

Roger Bossard, the head groundskeeper for the White Sox, said the Cubs had to deal with more than 3 inches of snow. He allowed two runs in his first start against Minnesota and did not walk a batter, then threw the one-hitter Sunday against Cincinnati.

"On the way out I had no idea if I was going to Cub Convention or Opening Day", Maddon said.
