Ryan Lilly, 32, is now facing charges of third-degree assault, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting a lawful stop and first-degree property damage in Jackson County. The chase lasted for about 45 minutes on Monday.

Officers in the area soon spotted the vehicle speeding away from the robbery scene, officials said. Police said the injury was non-life-threatening and the victim is expected to recover. As it turns out, the vehicle the suspect was driving had been reported stolen near Austin.

The chase began near 31st and York streets in Kansas City and crossed into Kansas City, Kan.

The driver led police to the rail yards in the West Bottoms, then went to Roeland Park, then onto I-35 south in the height of rush hour traffic.

Lilly eventually surrendered at Wornall Road and I-435. Lilly told police his girlfriend had "nothing to do with this", according to the documents. One of the three suspects was caught and arrested. He was sentenced to two years. He appeared "very disoriented and did not seem to comprehend anything" the officer was saying, court documents say.
