Andhra CM Naidu blames Centre for slow growth of AP

The chief minister said at the election campaign meeting in this "most sacred" city of Tirupati that Modi had promised to offer SCS, a lovely capital city and other infrastructure to Andhra if the NDA was voted to power.

The Andhra CM demanded from Centre to give explanation to the people of the state as to why it had not accorded SCS as promised in a public meeting in Tirupati in 2014 by Mr Modi. Modi wanted to create a capital like New Delhi in Andhra Pradesh and assured support to realise the dream.

This came a day ahead of the TDP's plans to hold a public meeting in Tirupati on April 30, to highlight how Modi had "failed on his promises that he had made exactly four years ago on that day". TDP has been relentlessly fighting against the centre for the rights of people of AP, demanding it to fulfil assurances made in Rajya Sabha including Special Category Status and provisions of AP Reorganisation Act.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will also address the gathering by showing visuals of Prime Minister Modi making promises to Andhra four years ago from the temple premises. "Our fight will continue against them until justice gets delivered and there is no compromise on that", Naidu said, while launching first election public meeting. It can't even win 10 sarpanch seats.

Karnataka has Bangalore, Tamil Nadu has Chennai, Telangana has Hyderabad, Maharashtra has Mumbai, Gujarat has Ahmedabad, but shouldn't Andhra Pradesh have one such city?

The New York Times' chief White House reporter Peter Baker and White House correspondent Maggie Haberman were also uncomfortable. Loftus, who is a writer for the CBS series "Kevin Can Wait", said that the political "roasting" at the event has gone too far.

Before the 2014 elections, the Congress had betrayed Andhra Pradesh by splitting the state in "lawless manner" and left the residual part to its own fate without a capital city, Naidu said.

Stating that 2.5 crore people are working in unorganised sector in the State, the Chief Minister directed the officials to correct disparities in minimum wages and implement minimum wages to all within three months.

He even alleged that the BJP was colluding with YSR Congress Party tainted with corruption to suppress the TDP.

"You made so many promises, but nothing was given to us", he said. On April 20, Naidu sacrificed his birthday celebrations and observed a day-long hunger strike - Dharma Porata Deeksha.

Despite several challenges encountered by it, the TDP government had developed Andhra Pradesh in all sectors in a big way, Naidu added.
