Annual rankings report: Murray High 8th in state

"Ridgefield High School is ranked 5th within CT".

The list, published annually, looks at data from more than 20,000 schools focusing on student outcomes with an emphasis on graduation rates and state proficiency tests. The first three steps review graduation rates and state proficiency tests for math and reading, while the fourth reviews how students fared on advanced placement and worldwide baccalaureate exams, which measure students preparedness for college level work.

"It's nice being a small school so that we can know them individually and what their needs are", Ellis said. "It's been a good year". Davis High School ranked 754 and the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science - or AMES - ranked 985.

A chain of charter schools in Arizona took the top five spots in the nationwide rankings.

"A great high school", said the rankings' website, "must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators". The school offers a variety of honors and Advanced Placement courses, including computer science, physics and foreign language. "I congratulate the students, teachers and staff of these schools for blazing a path of excellence". The other Florida school was Sheridan Technical High School in Fort Lauderdale.

Ridgefield High School is #332 in National Rankings with a College Readiness Score 65.1/100.0. The year before that, they received a Bronze medal. Top performers also had to do well on state assessments and graduate at high rates.

U.S. News and World Report recognized St. Charles North for its 99 percent graduation rate, 45 percent math proficiency in which students meet or exceed state standards and 50 percent student reading proficiency.
