Spanish Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton takes pole in Spain

"Strength in depth. I hope it can continue".

"This has happened before", said Raikkonen.

"Third, I think it was a poor weekend in terms of reliability". "I believe it is about having a auto that does what you want, drives like you expect it to drive", he said.

"I am much happier with the auto".

Lewis Hamilton sprays champagne as he celebrates on the podium after winning the race.

By Lap 54, Hamilton was leading by 17.7seconds on medium tyres and one pit stop.

Brendon Hartley, Marcus Ericsson and the thrice-lapped Sergey Sirotkin, who had an excursion through Turn 9's gravel at the VSC restart, completed the finishers.

"This is when we are going to start applying some pressure", said Hamilton, who has gained 34 points on Vettel in the last three races.

Drivers championship (top five): 1.

"It was very close in qualifying, but very happy", he said. However, Ferrari caught everyone by surprise when they made a decision to call Vettel in the pits (under the VSC period) for the second time. Was this a case of Ferrari's strategy going all wrong?

FIA bars USA diplomat from leaving Pakistan
Sources said that the U.S. diplomat wasn't present at the airbase but would reach there after being allowed to leave the country. The diplomat later returned to the embassy.

"This was definitely the closest it's been to some of the performances we had previous year". It looks different and it looks wrong, but from the inside I think it was the right thing to do.

The lack of performance from Ferrari would be alarming.

Grand Prix of Spain.

"They have been changed a bit, the tyres, for whatever reason".

Even if one were to assume that two-stopping was Ferrari's strategy for Vettel's race, it wouldn't be too hard to think that they were more foolhardy than courageous.

The other issue for Ferrari was their unreliability. But because of Botas' late devastation, along with Kimi Raikkonen's second-place finish, Ferrari jumped ahead of Mercedes in the constructor standings. After five races, we have a much better understanding of the vehicle, of what we need to do to get the auto working. Mercedes have not been able to get the most from their vehicle since the opening round in Melbourne and have been repeatedly out-paced by Ferrari.

That error meant the German emerged back on track behind Verstappen's Red Bull.

The race leader had to navigate multiple virtual safety auto periods during the race, as well as a full safety vehicle deployed for an opening lap crash caused by Romain Grosjean who had spun in Turn 3. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was able to hold off Vettel until the end.

The next two races in Monaco and Canada will be important in determining if this past weekend was just a one-off, particularly as the new Hypersoft compound will be used for the first time and the layouts will play to the respective strengths of their rivals.

"I ruined my first run in Q3 so I only had one chance in the last run". We still have a lot of work to do. Daniel Ricciardo was fifth in the second Red Bull while Magnussen in the Haas finished behind Ricciardo. In China, he couldn't manage more than eighth place after an ill-timed safety vehicle and a subsequent collision caused by Max Verstappen. Fernando Alonso managed further points in eighth, with Force India' Sergio Pérez in ninth. The Frenchman then speared across the circuit, into Renault's Nico Hülkenberg and Toro Rosso-Honda's Pierre Gasly, both of whom suffered race-ending damage in the collision.
