Instead, he tweeted this on Wednesday: "Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that "ABC does not tolerate comments like those" made by Roseanne Barr".

Instead, he noted that Iger never called him "to apologize for the disgusting statements made and said about me on ABC". Trump tweeted that maybe he "just didn't get the call".

The actress did apologize via her Twitter account for the original tweet that set all of these events in motion yesterday and deleted the racist tweet.

Barr has since stated that she would be addressing the entire controversy on Joe Rogan's podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience", this upcoming Friday.

Minutes later, Barr responded to tweets from Sara Gilbert, who portrayed Roseanne's daughter, Darlene Conner. Gilbert had called Barr's initial comments "abhorrent", saying they "do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting", she said in one, and added that she had "done weird stuff while on ambien-cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc -" in another.

Roseanne Barr wanted her television show to be canceled, her ex-husband Tom Arnold said in interviews with CNN and The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. "You throw me under the bus. nice!" So that's why there was speculation that he might weigh in on the show's demise. When the Twitter user pointed to her previous tweets-and the headlines they inspired-she wrote, "i blamed myself. stop lying".

Barr seemed to liken the reaction from her co-stars and those a supporter called "her underlings" to the way Trump complains about members of his administration being "disloyal".

"I'm not a racist, I never was & I never will be", she wrote. "Roseanne was very "bigly" hit for ABC, and we needed it". The latter statement was accompanied by an old tweet by Barr.

Rather than distancing himself from Barr's racist remarks, Trump jumped right into the argument about whether she was subjected to a double standard. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication", the company tweeted, echoing a sentiment that many on social media had shared after Barr claimed the sleep aid was behind her offensive words.
