UAE moon sighting committee will meet tonight to announce Eid

In Pakistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said that it is unlikely that the Shawal moon will be sighted on Thursday.

The crescent of the Shaawal moon has not been sighted with Eidul Fitr to be celebrated across the country on Saturday. Qatar was also celebrating Eid on Friday.

Meanwhile, King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman sent cables of greetings to several kings, heads of state, and leaders of Muslim countries on the eve of Eid Al-Fitr. However, it said the final decision in this regard will be announced by the moon-sighting committee after the Maghrib prayer (offered at the sunset).

The holy month officially began on 16th May 2018, and is projected to end on 14th June 2018.

Moroccan astronomer and researcher Abdelaziz Kharbouch Al Ifrani, whose previous predictions for Ramadan and other religious celebrations this year were all correct, told Morocco World News earlier this month that the country will celebrate Eid on Friday. In Ramzan, the 9th month of Islamic calendar, Muslims observe fast and abstain from food and water from dawn to dusk.

The Islamic month of Shawwal comes after the 29 or 30 days of the month of Ramadan when Muslims across the world observe a month long fasting. Similar appeals have also been issued by Eid Moon Sighting Committees in Indonesia, Malaysia as well as United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, France, Singapore, Japan and South Korea. The Muslim community gathers at masjids to pray.

With the month of Ramzan coming to end, the question on everyone's mind is 'when is Eid?' Many Muslims are often asked this question in the month of Ramzan as their friends wait for Eid delicacies. A huge amount of money and food were also donated in the Holy month of Ramadan to help the poor and needy.
