Ohio State Investigators' Emails To Jim Jordan Went To Bad Address

Guest host Leland Vittert, filling in for America's Newsroom anchor Bill Hemmer, was speaking with a panel of media guests during a segment of the show's second hour about recent allegations against Jordan by former Ohio State wrestlers who claim he was dismissive of sex abuse claims involving former team doctor Richard Strauss in the 1990s.

President Donald Trump defended Jordan at a campaign rally in Montana on Thursday, saying he believed the Ohio Republican and did not believe the accusations.

"Coach Jordan knew what was going on, 100 percent", Mr. Yetts said. "No question in my mind", Trump said.

Former Ohio State wrestler Mike DiSabato was one of three ex-OSU wrestlers who confirmed Jordan's knowingness to NBC News. For any teacher, protecting kids is the absolute first priority-and I say that as a former kindergarten teacher.

Ian Fury, a spokesman for Jordan, said the congressman never saw or heard about any abuse and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State.

Jordan worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State from 1987 until 1995 before going into politics.

Since then, male Ohio State athletes from 14 sports have alleged sexual misconduct by Strauss, who was on the faculty and medical staff and published a variety of research.

Another law firm representing the university in the matter has said investigators tried unsuccessfully to contact Jordan's office by phone and email to seek an interview with him.

The policy shift comes at a pivotal moment in the long-running affirmative action debate. Outside parties will be filing briefs in the Harvard case in the coming weeks.

Strauss, who died in 2005, is accused of inappropriate conduct by athletes from over a dozen sports at Ohio State. "We all did", Dailey, 43, told NBC News.

"Jim Jordan is a world-caliber athlete who is very aggressive in his actions. he's a bulldog, let's be honest", DiSabato said.

A fourth former wrestler from Ohio State University is accusing Republican Rep.

"I considered Jim Jordan a friend", DiSabato said.

"I participated with Jimmy and the other wrestlers in locker-room talk about Strauss".

The former wrestler claims that Jordan told him to "please leave me out of it" when he told the congressman he planned to go public with the accusations earlier this year. "It was very common knowledge in the locker room that if you went to Dr. Strauss for anything, you would have to pull your trousers down".

Jordan has said he only learned about the abuse allegations this spring, when former students began speaking out. If not, it's even money as to whether the politicization of the scandal becomes a big problem for Jim Jordan, or creates a right-wing groundswell to make him the next Speaker.

"The investigative team is continuing its efforts to schedule an interview with Rep. Jordan, as well as other individuals with potential knowledge relating to the allegations", Trafford said.
