Chelsea lead the chase for Zaha

The Daily Mail is reporting that new Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri is set to hold talks with the west London side about potential signings in the final week of the transfer window.

Hodgson said, "I spoke to Wilf yesterday and he certainly gave me no indication it was true about wanting to quit the club".

Chelsea reportedly even had an offer of £30 million plus Danny Drinkwater turned down by Palace, following which Spurs were hoping to make a better offer and sign him from under the Blues' noses.

"I'm afraid I prefer to stay in that world where I speak to the players and watch them train rather than follow what is happening in the mass media". That's why he's getting talked about with big teams wanting him because I think he's at that point now where if big teams take him I think he'll kick on again because it's all there for him.

Speaking in May amid reported interest from Manchester City and Tottenham, Zaha indicated he would not push for a move from Palace, which he described as his "home". I haven't spoken to him much to be honest.

The Crystal Palace winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park for a number of months after he seemingly single handedly ensured the Eagles' Premier League safety last term.

Zaha who is one of Crystal Palace most influential player failed to join Everton when the switch fell through earlier in the summer.

Following the shock departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, Los Blancos have been on the lookout for a replacement, but are yet to make a concrete approach to try and sign the Chelsea superstar.
