involves marriage with more than one spouse. When a man is married to more than one wife at a time, it is called polygyny. When a woman is married to more than one husband at a time, it is called polyandry.
The more I research this, the more I find out how different it is to different polygamist. What first had me facinated by polygamy is the televion show Sister Wives with Kody Brown.
[ Before I continue I do want to say I do not agree with the polygamy lifestyle, nor do I see myself every “joining” it.]
If you dont know about him, he has four wives. Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn. Between all four wives he has around 18 children (per Wikipedia). Kody’s view with polygamy seem to be different then some I’ve learned about. I do believe, if there is a better concept of this belief, Kody is doing it right. The only legal marriage he has is with his fourth wife Robyn. As of this year Kody has been married to Meri for 26 years, Janelle 23, Christine 22, and Robyn 6 years. All of the women came from a polygamist family except Janelle. Months before her marriage with Kody, Janelles mother entered a polygamist relationship with Kody’s father. When I say “Kody and Janelle’s marriage” I do not mean legal marriage. They refer to it as a “spiritual marriage”.

_A Little Deeper into their beliefs._
The Browns belong to Apostolic United Bretheren group.
The Apostolic United Brethren (AUB) is a fundamentalist group that promotes polygamy. The AUB has had a temple in Mexico, since at least the 1990s, and an endowment house in Utah since the early 1980s.
The title “Apostolic United Brethren” is not generally used by members, who prefer to call it “The Work”, “The Priesthood”, or “The Group”. Those outside the faith sometimes refer to it as the “Allred Group” because two of its presidents shared that surname. Members of the AUB do not refer to their organization as a “church” and, unlike nearly all other Mormon fundamentalist groups, regard The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) as a legitimate, if wayward and diminished, divine institution. The AUB is unrelated to other similarly named groups such as Churches of the Brethren.
The AUB furnished a detailed description of their beliefs and practices in August 2009 to the Utah Attorney General’s “Polygamy Primer”, which was later revised in 2011. This booklet is used to educate the law enforcement and social relief agencies involved with similar groups.

The Browns are actually just a few in many polygamist families throughout the country. A few of these are located in different places, but per law the majority reside in the state of Utah.
Recently, a show called “Escaping Polygamy” was released. Naturally I was interested. It centers around a group of sisters who are helping others escape polygamy. The girls themselves escaped what has been called “The Kingston Clan.” Some also refer to it as the largest crime organization. This type of group seems to be what could give polygamy a bad name. The whole group, from what I’ve saw on television and read, seems to be made up of seven men. Paul Eldean Kingston-leader, David Kingston, Jesse Kingston, Hyrum Kingston, Jason Kingston, and “Fat” Joe Kingston. Each have multiple wives with doubled the amount of children. I’m talking 40’s and 50’s worth. From my research, they do nothing but rape/molest all the girls and women with in their families. They tell them their going to hell if they don’t comply. Sickening right? How do they get away with it you ask? I have literally read they paid off the Governor and other law officials to turn a blind eye to their acts. I do not see how though! If you would like to read more into them tune into Escaping Polygamy on A&E. As well as the internet. I’ll be posting more links throughout this article. Trust me though your eyes will not believe what they find within this story. They aren’t the only “clan” though. There is another with a leader named Warren Jeffs. He is known as a FLDS prophet. His followers believe God speaks through him basically. Anything he says they follow because they worship him as if he is God. The same kind of sexual activities seems to go on in his cult as well. Unlike the Kingston’s, Jeffs is currently serving life in prison plus 20 years for sexually assaulting two girls he claimed were his “spiritual wives.”
Hats off to these women for making a difference in peoples lives. Even if its just one at a time. You are brave brave souls.

News Article on Kingston Clan
There was PLENTY more on Warren Jeffs, but as figures, the Kingston news is few an far between. I do believe people like these need awareness brought to them. As for the Browns. I think people should leave them alone. Nothing about them seems as disgusting as these groups.
So tell me, could you yourself live the polygamy lifestyle? Or maybe you have info about them I didn’t cover. Feel free to share with me all thoughts an information on my post! Until then..
